We speak with percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Rick Walker about jazz in Santa Cruz. Walker has long been a fixture of the Santa Cruz music scene, best-known for the international live looping festival that he runs every year. But right now Rick’s concern is that the music called “America’s classical music” is dying. With the help of the Jazz Society of Santa Cruz, Walker is working to encourage a new generation of jazz musicians and listeners.
