Maria Cadenas is founder of the Undocu-fund, a nonprofit which distributes cash and other support to undocumented families. She talks about how the people of Pajaro and other farmworkers affected by the floods need more than a few charity dollars, they need to have a dignified income and housing so that our food systems and the people work in them can thrive.

She is the producer of radio documentaries such as Southern Songbirds: The Women of Early Country and Old Time Music, The Boomtown Chronicles, and Pastures of Plenty, a History of California Farmworkers. She teaches journalism at Cabrillo College in Aptos. She is a recipient of a Peabody award for excellence in journalism.
