trails program manager for Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship. She’s a passionate community-builder and fundraiser with over 8 years of leadership experience in the non-profit sector.
They discussed ongoing new trail construction at Cotoni-Coast Dairies Unit of the California Coastal National Monument (managed by the Bureau of Land Management), trail maintenance on Emma McCrary Trail in Pogonip Open Space Preserve (managed by the City of Santa Cruz), and potential upcoming trail projects at San Vicente Redwoods and Big Basin State Park.
Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (SCMTS) now employs over a dozen full-time employees and growing. The SCMTS team not only builds, maintains, and upgrades local trails but also educates users on proper trail etiquette. This year the nonprofit is celebrating its 25th anniversary and is looking forward to continuing its mission of improving the resilience of local trails so that everyone can enjoy and protect the beauty of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
