Defining Forgiveness

What is forgiveness, and what is the relationship between forgiveness and happiness? Is there anything that is truly not forgivable? In this episode, we discuss what forgiveness is, and what it isn’t: it’s not condoning harmful behavior, being a doormat, or not setting appropriate boundaries. It does not even mean that we necessarily restore trust with the person we forgive — after we forgive, we can decide to restore or release the relationship. As the famous quote goes, forgiveness is giving up all hope of having a different past, and liberates us from bitterness and resentment.
