Episode #1: Welcome to the very first episode of “STATE OF MIND: Being Human and Living Well” soon to broadcast on the new community radio station 90.7 FM KSQD (K-squid). State of Mind is hosted by Debra Sloss, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and KSQD and features conversations about mental health and wellness here on the central coast of California. In each program she interviews two or more guests and explores a theme where people share their personal stories and their clinical or program expertise. Programs will air once a month. Her programs seek to educate through personal story, feature stories of mental health recovery and wellness, and share information and resources in our local community. Our hope is that in airing these stories we will help bring to light the complexity of the human experience, reduce stigma and improve access to services.
In this episode Debra Sloss, LMFT is joined by guests Judy Brenis and Hannah Jones to discuss Adult ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Hannah shares her personal story of her struggles leading up to and then being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. She describes her journey of learning to accept and understand herself, seek support and ultimately find strategies and skills to accomplish her goals and dreams. Hannah has since become a coach helping others living with ADHD. Judy Brenis shares her many years of experience and wisdom from having a child diagnosed with ADHD, from leading ADHD support groups for parents and adults and from working as an ADHD Coach. We discuss what kinds of challenges people with ADHD face, how adult ADHD differs from childhood ADHD, how to get properly diagnosed, where to find help and support and more. Together Hannah and Judy share information about the upcoming Thriving with ADHD Symposium in Aptos on Oct. 14, 2018 which is a gathering they have organized for all folks (teens, parents and adults) living with and wanting to thrive with ADHD.

This is a wonderful explanation of the spectrum of adult ADD. It really helped me a lot to understand and have compassion because I have people in my life With many of these similar experiences.
This is really helpful. I have a brother who has ADHD. When he was still young, my parents have him see a Child Psychiatrist for ADHD treatment. Now, he has grown up into a better man than what we thought he will be.
