When Kevin Adler’s uncle Mark died in a homeless shelter in Santa Cruz after years on the streets suffering from schizophrenia, Kevin knew things needed to change when it came to how we view unhoused people. Since then, Kevin has been writing, speaking and creating a nonprofit that helps homeless individuals find a way back home. Inspiring, clear, and compelling conversation about how we as a society address a truly solvable problem.

Rachel is host of Talk of the Bay and Board Chair of KSQD. She is the producer of radio documentaries such as Southern Songbirds: The Women of Early Country and Old Time Music, The Boomtown Chronicles, and Pastures of Plenty, a History of California Farmworkers. She teaches journalism at Cabrillo College in Aptos. She is a recipient of a Peabody award for excellence in journalism.
