(Santa Cruz ,CA) How often does your radio listen to you? Central Coast Community Radio will hold a listening/information session on October 4th at 7pm. The meeting will include an update on progress toward buying a radio license and results of its listener survey, as well as a brainstorm on local program ideas. The meeting will take place in the conference room at Community Television, 325 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz.

Central Coast Community Radio has been raising funds to start a community radio station in the wake of the shuttering of KUSP last August. So far the group is 2/3 of the way toward their $300,000 goal.

The station will air a mix of local news, interviews, and music, celebrating the rich cultural and political environment of Santa Cruz County. Public service will be at the heart of the station’s mission, amplifying the activities of nonprofits, businesses, schools, charities, and individuals doing positive things for the area.

The purpose of the listening tour is to learn what people want and need to hear, and to galvanize volunteers.
