Teens are undergoing a mental health crisis, with cases of depression and anxiety reaching epidemic proportions nationwide, especially after the Pandemic. In Santa Cruz, the Boys and Girls Club has been a safe refuge from the stresses teens face, while still coping with the impact of what happens outside of school and the club. Casey Paz is a student in Journalism at Cabrillo who works at the club and talks with staff and teens about the role of afterschool programs and how far they go to help youth steer away from a path of self-destruction.
