On Good News Santa Cruz, July 2, 2020 host Randa Solick interviewed Jenny Panetta, the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz. The Housing Authority is a public agency that provides housing and rental assistance to thousands of low-income individuals and families countywide, through a mix of federal, state, and local programs. Their largest program is the Housing Choice Voucher program, commonly known as “Section 8”. Although there is not nearly enough rental assistance available to meet the demand, our Housing Authority has been using some innovate new strategies in recent years to increase their funding, and more importantly, to increase the number of families they assist.
The Housing Authority is located at 2160 41st Avenue, Capitola CA 95010 (although the office is currently closed to the public due to COVID-19). Please reach the Housing Authority at 831-454-9455 or on our website at: https://www.hacosantacruz.org/.
