We have a very experiential Dream Journal in which our guest Sharon Terry leads gentle dream explorations first with Katherine and later with our caller Ellen. But we start off by discussing the principles of gestalt practice and it roots in the work of Fritz Perls and Sharon’s collaborator Christine Price. The essence of gestalt is that all of the parts of my dream are somehow parts of me. Gestalt Awareness Practice is an adaptation which focuses on body awareness and allowing feelings to come into awareness rather than on fixing things. We laugh about the motto, “If it’s broke, don’t fix it” and how finding a feeling of frustration is a sign that transformation in imminent.
Sharon Terry is part of the Tribal Ground organization, and they provide workshops and book groups including a dream workshop called Mirrors in the Dark. Books we talked about include Gestalt Therapy Verbatim by Fritz Perls,
