In July, I spent five weeks teaching podcasting to 25 UCSC students stationed in the tiny artist town of Dingle, Ireland. The students were encouraged to find a topic they were curious about and that had meaning to them. These are three out of six podcasts that were created.
The first podcast, Dinny in Dingle, is about a dairy farmer struggling to do the right thing and stay in business as a family farmer.
The second story, What’s the Catch? is about a third-generation fisherman who has had to reinvent his way of fishing in response to quotas and changing climate by opening a popular fish restaurant.
The third story “Pubinvestigators” is about two popular pubs in Ireland, each with its own charm and culture in this town where every other business is a pub.
