On Friday on May 7th, 2021 at 3 pm Host Gloria Nieto welcomed Shirley Wong and Yoshimi Miyazaki, shared their experiences as Asian-American women – in recent months, and over the course of their lives.

Shirley is a 2nd-generation Chinese American, who lives in Santa Cruz with her husband and 2 young daughters.  She works in the Life Sciences and technology industry.

Yoshimi was born in Kobe, Japan in 1948.  Her mom was a Kobe native, and her dad a U.S. Army Sergeant who was born and raised in Hawaii in a family of Japanese ancestry.  She is a fiction writer with seven books in publication of a series of romance novels.

Unheard Voices is a derivative of the new Civil Rights Movement Black Lives Matter. This program is inclusive of all people of the colors of the Rainbow. We hold the vision that change begins in the heart, and with the intention to learn about others and respect their world views, we will find ways to coexist peacefully to create a world that works for all.
