Tune in at 12 a.m., Monday, July 15th, and hear the Gypsy Scholar present the third installment of the Orphic Essay-with-Soundtrack series, “Romantic Total Revolution: The Democracy Of Soul & The Goddess Of Liberty,” in honor of Independence Day for 2024. This installment continues to discover what America truly represents as a democratic ideal in the imagination (the “Romantic Imagination” of the European and American 19th-century poet-prophets and visionaries). Thus, this musical essay engages in re-mythologizing the American ideal through the statuary, paintings, and illustrations of the early nation. The first part of the musical essay deals with the image of America as an Indian Princess and the second part deals with The Goddess of Freedom, from Libertas to Lady Liberty.
