Elevate Rehab in Watsonville is a recovery program that specializes in fitness, yoga, mindfulness and other techniques to help people recover from addiction. During the holidays, staying sober is especially hard, when well-meaning relatives and friends often urge you to join them in imbibing alcohol or doing drugs. Director, Angie Manson and counselor Dallas Terrell along with pastor Ryan Althaus discuss ways of staying sober and avoiding potentially risky situations that may cause one to fall off the wagon.

Good afternoon KSQD!
Love that you posted info about staying clean and sober over the holidays, which can be incredibly difficult for some people. Until I got sober almost 11.5 years ago, I used to get really drunk (and often made a fool of myself in front of my family) at nearly all holiday/family get-together. “They” were my problem. NOT!
Now, I enjoy helping with our alcathons at SCFAA (Santa Cruz Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, 412 Front Street, SC) downtown, feeding people, talking to people, and helping them realize that they matter in this world, and we care about them.
On Christmas Day and New Years Day we will have all day meetings, and we serve food and/or snacks and free coffee. I “manage” our snack bar which caters to alcoholics and addicts (lots of sweets, cup-of-soup, sparkling water, sodas, plain water, chips – all reasonably priced).
Love your channel…you and KKUP are my go to stations! Keep up the great work!
Warm regards,
Gaelen H
