In this short piece by Cabrillo College student, Mara Chapman (one of my Writing for the Broadcast Media students), she explores the concept of defensible space. How much is enough? How do you prepare for another fire season while still recovering from the last one? She visits with Rob and Becca Moeller, who are going all-out clearing brush and dead trees to make sure they are ready for whatever is next.
