As covid shut down all live theater productions across the country, members of Mountain Community Theater of Ben Lomond didn’t sit around twiddling their thumbs. They got right down to business creating videos under the theme “Ghost-light Theater”. The term “Ghost-Light” apparently refers to a bare bulb light put on stage to make sure actors didn’t fall off the stage between sets. It’s an apt term, because audiences and actors alike did not fall off the stage during covid, but merely shifted to the online space temporarily. In this interview with Peter Gelblum, one of the theater’s board members, he talks about what creative ideas percolated in the relative isolation of lockdown and what’s planned for when they reopen to the public.
