May is Affordable Housing Month

Elaine Johnson Executive Director of Housing Santa Cruz County, a nonprofit that advocates for affordable housing, announces May is Affordable Housing Month. Multiple community groups present an impressive series of events throughout the county. The range of events includes a keynote speaker at Cabrillo College, an urban planner, policy expert and author, an outdoor resource fair, food trucks and live music.
May 11, at Temple Beth El, will be two presentations with strategist and social scientist Dr. Tiffany Manuel (Dr. T):

Reimagining Issues that Determine our Future in Santa Cruz County,”. 

Building Public Will for Action,” a presentation about reimagining the systems and thinking strategically to advance housing, open space and climate issues. 

Additional events throughout the month include a film screening, multi-jurisdictional policy discussions with our elected city and county leaders, a Housing Element bike tour, groundbreakings at affordable housing projects, and conversations with community leaders around affordable housing policy development and plan implementation.
