It Needs to be Told: Native Californians Reflect on Mission History

How can native people in California have their histories told in Mission state parks? That’s the question I put to our panel of guests on Talk of the Bay. Marion Martinez of the Amah Mutsen tribal band, Kanyon Sayers-Rood tribal leader of the Indian Valley band, Martn Rizz0-Martinez of UCSC’s Film and Digital Media department, Julie Sidell of California State Parks, and Ruth Anne Beutler, a film maker are all guests on this program, grappling with how to broaden the way we interpret history to include indigenous voices. The event, to be held on Nov. 12th at the Mission State Park in Santa Cruz, will include a film screening, discussion and refreshments.
