Curtis Reliford is a Santa Cruz-based philanthropist and is on a personal quest to bring people together. In this interview, he talks about how Hurricane Katrina galvanized him from feeling beaten down by racism to having a purpose in life to serve and help others. He also describes what it feels like to be a black man waving an American flag in the recent protests and how police have treated him.

She teaches journalism at Cabrillo College in Aptos. She is a recipient of a Peabody award for excellence in journalism.
