KSQD/KSQT Community Radio seeks an Account Representative to join our sales team, covering Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. The Account Representative will generate and pursue contacts with local businesses and nonprofit organizations that would like to sponsor programs and align their brands with our loyal audience. The Account Representative will play an important role in generating revenue via our FM radio broadcasts, website, and cell-phone app.

This is a part-time, commission-based position with a 3-month start-up stipend, perfect for someone looking for a supplemental source of income. After 7-years in the market, KSQD/KSQT radio broadcasting and digital platforms are reaching the entire Monterey Bay Bay area, developing a loyal following with a positive community mission.

Responsibilities:

Maintain frequent contact with potential underwriters through personal visits, phone calls, and emails in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties, with the goal of securing sponsorship agreements.

Accurately and effectively act as a brand ambassador for the station and its mission

Expand our roster of current and potential underwriting clients.

Maintain consistent updates on progress with the Station Manager and the Treasurer

Keep accurate records of all sales activities, including completed written agreements filed with the Treasurer.

Help edit, write and communicate the client’s copywriting text for broadcast based on FCC requirements and guidelines. Stay updated on essential FCC regulations governing non-commercial radio underwriting.

Qualifications:

  • Previous local ad sales experience, ideally in media industry
  • Fundraising or donor outreach experience preferred
  • Local business contacts a plus
  • Understanding of/appreciation for the values of community radio
  • The ideal candidate is personable, outgoing, reliable, hard-working, authentic, and is flexible enough to work independently in a startup environment.

Compensation:

$700/month stipend plus 20% commission, rising to 30% after milestones are met.

Natural Bridges Media is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to run and operate KSQD-FM, a noncommercial, listener-supported community radio station for Santa Cruz County broadcasting at 90.7, 89.7 and 89.5 FM. We are incorporated in California and have our federal tax-exempt status from the IRS.
