We talk with PhD student at UC Santa Cruz, Regina Spranger, about California Giant Salamanders and where to find them. Ever wondered how they go from eggs to adults? The amazing things that happen during metamorphosis? Learn all about these enormous salamanders who are the banana slugs’ only predator!

You can see how difficult it is to eat a banana slug, but these salamanders are able to get through all the slime.

To find out more about California Giant Salamanders, check out this website about California herps (reptiles and amphibians).

Tune in to KSQD 90.7 FM to listen live to Santa Cruz Naturalist the week of March 2nd: Tuesday 7:53 am and Saturday 11:54 am.

The adult California Giant Salamander below is a whopping 11 inches!
