Growing up in Brooklyn in the 50's and 60's was an incredible period for music. Carole King, Neil Sedaka, Neil Diamond, Kenny Vance, Woody and Arlo Guthrie and a host of other fantastic songwriters and musicians lived in the neighborhood. Acapella Doo Wop was heard in stairwells, bathrooms and under a streetlight under my bedroom window at nights. Then there was Woodstock. The love of music became part of my DNA and when I arrived in Santa Cruz in '71, I got caught up in Country & Western, Bluegrass and Old Timey music....then came KFAT and I was hooked on their crazy programming.
My Tuesday 11am-1pm Brooklynbilly Music Mashup is a melding of all these influences and will include providing visibility to the many fantastic musicians we're blessed with here in the Monterey Bay area.
Thanks for listening - I hope you enjoy the show.
