On Talk of the Bay, April 5, 2021, Christine Barrington goes Behind the Mic with Gary Shapiro.
KSQD is community radio and what makes it distinctive is its varied local voices–whether it’s music or talk, much of the programming streaming your way on 90.7 FM is created by community volunteers offering their expertise for the sheer love of doing what they do. But, who are the people running the studio, spinning the tunes, and sharing tales with local and national personalities? Their stories will likely surprise and delight you.
There are five ways to catch the kind voice of uncle Gary over the local airwaves: Mondays at KSQD you can hear him spin tunes on Shaprio at Large starting at 11am and continue right on through to the afternoon, with him joining Eric Nelson on Creative Bandwidth. Thursdays at midnight he’s burning the oil with Shapiro at Night.
And, at KSCO he hosts a pop cultural smorgasbord with his show From the Bookshelf every Monday evenings at 7pm, and if that isn’t enough for you, you can also hear his book segments every other week on Good morning Monterey Bay with Rose Marie Chalmers.
If you would like to enjoy Gary’s many marvelous interviews with the shining stars of American pop culture follow this link for From the Bookshelf, but USE YOUR PHONE. It just doesn’t work going through a laptop. Click on the interview that interests you, and be patient while the interview loads.
