This month on Santa Cruz Naturalist, we follow up with Ph.D. student Regina Spranger and find out more about the locally threatened California red-legged frog, which is also our state amphibian (listen to part 1 about California red-legged frogs here). Did you know that most frogs don’t migrate, but the red-legged frogs in Santa Cruz can migrate up to 1/2 a mile? This is quite a long distance for a small frog!
Tune in to KSQD 90.7 FM to listen live the week of May 4th 2020: Tuesday 7:53 am and Saturday 11:54 am.
Here’s a California red-legged from juvenile, a tadpole starting to change into an adult. See the little legs starting to grow!
