Richard Tejeda is Executive Director of the nonprofit, Saved by Nature in San Jose which gets seniors, at-promise youth, and others out into the natural world to explore the beauty and uniqueness of the central coast and environs. Richard grew up in a mostly urban, low-income community in San Jose and says that discovering the creeks near his home as a young fisherman led him on a journey into the parks service as an interpreter as well as the drive to start his own organization. He wants to see more people of color out enjoying the natural world and benefitting from the healing qualities of being outdoors. For more information: Savedbynature.org

Rachel is host of Talk of the Bay and Board Chair of KSQD. She is the producer of radio documentaries such as Southern Songbirds: The Women of Early Country and Old Time Music, The Boomtown Chronicles, and Pastures of Plenty, a History of California Farmworkers. She teaches journalism at Cabrillo College in Aptos. She is a recipient of a Peabody award for excellence in journalism.
