Who we are
We are Natural Bridges Media, d/b/a K-Squid, KSQD 90.7 FM Santa Cruz, a 501(c)3 community media, news and education nonprofit.
Our website address is: https://ksqd.org.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you use one of the online contact forms, any information that you enter into the form will be sent to the email address of the department director that is associated with that contact form.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
If you send an email using one of the site contact forms, we may place a cookie on your computer which allows us to process your message. It does not contain any information about you, or the content of your message.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
KSQD embeds forms that are processed by Qualtrics (KSQD Listener Survey) and Salsa Labs (KSQD Donation and Newsletter Signup Forms). Those forms and data entered and transmitted on the forms are governed by the privacy policies of the respective platforms. See further information on our use of these platforms under “who we share your data with.”
The site uses the Koko privacy-respecting analytics suite. All analytics are performed in-house on our own server, and only collect basic usage statistics that we are required to collect as part of our station licensing. No analytics are shared with any third parties, ever.
Who we share your data with
Generally speaking, we do not share your data with third parties. KSQD email is provided through Google G Suite for Nonprofits, so any email that is sent to ksqd.org addresses will be stored and processed in G Suite email accounts. We also store website backups via G Suite. If you make a donation, your data will be shared with our payment processor as necessary to process your donation. If you sign up for KSQD mailing lists or newsletters, your information may be stored and processed by our donor services provider, Salsa Labs. We also use Qualtrics to collect and analyze listener survey responses to help us more efficiently respond to listener feedback.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Emails sent to ksqd.org email addresses are also retained indefinitely.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Otherwise, see “who we share your data with” above. Our goal is to retain and share as little personal information as possible.

Access to user information on this site is protected by access control procedures and protocols. The server, site and web applications are regularly updated with the latest security patches.
What data breach procedures we have in place
What third parties we receive data from
We receive donation reports from our donor services provider, Salsa Labs, and analysis of listener survey responses from Qualtrics.
