In square miles Santa Cruz County is the second smallest in California, but in hiking and mountain biking trail miles Santa Cruz County is a giant. And, this month these miles will increase in number due to a collaboration between the Bureau of Land Management, Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship, and the local community. After years of advocacy, fundraising, and trail construction, the Cotoni-Coast Dairies’ first nine miles of trails will open to the public on August 16th!
Guests Zachary Ormsby, Field Manager for the Central Coast Bureau of Land Management, Philip Oviatt, BLM Public Affairs Officer, and Matt De Young, Executive Director of the Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship, join the show to share the history of this project’s development and invite you out of the house and onto these fabulous new trails.
Trailhead parking: Located at the intersection of Warnella Road and Cement Plant Road near Davenport.
Times: Starting August 16th, 2025, trails are open dawn till dusk seven days a week.
