Meek and Marco: Skateboarding Then and Now

Skateboarding and Santa Cruz are often spoken in the same sentence. Since the 1970’s Santa Cruz is not only recognized as a brand, but also for its rad skateboarders, surfers and punk rock music. This feature by Patrick Harte explores the contrasts in what it takes to be a professional skateboarder today vs the early days. Patrick spoke with Keith Meek and Marco Chavez. Keith is an icon in the sport in the 70’s and 80’s who is now a mentor to a young man named Marco Chavez who represents the new generation in skateboarding today with a strong emphasis on school, health and his love for skateboarding.
