Juneteenth commemorates when the last enslaved people in the country were informed of their freedom. Whether you call it Emancipation Day, Freedom Day or the country’s second Independence Day, Juneteenth is one of the most important anniversaries in our nation’s history. On Talk of the Bay, Monday June 19, Christine Barrington marks the holiday with local members of the National organization “Showing Up for Racial Justice” to share how SURJ organizes and trains white people to become accountable for creating racial justice across the nation.
Guests include: Kathy Lass and Angelee Dion (SURJ Santa Cruz County); Lori Katcher and Nora Larson (SURJ Sacred Heart in San Jose)
If you have wanted to do something to abolish racism but have not known how, SURJ can help. Check out the resources and links below and discover how you can feel supported and become skillful in the journey to end racism.
