Where do you go in this day and age if you are trans or queer where you will be accepted and not harassed? SubRosa, that’s where. UCSC intern Maury Burnette-Cavoto takes us there for this portrait of an anarchist event space in Santa Cruz.
From their website:
SubRosa is an anarchist community space run by a collective of committed people (mostly) from the Santa Cruz County area, freely giving off our energy and time.
We put our energy into SubRosa to create a vibrant environment, available for events, classes and meetings, collaborations and organizing, art and creativity, as well as reading and studying. We offer a selection of radical books and magazines and other swag – for sale and by donation. And check out the Anarchist Lending Library – featuring books on anarchy, Situationists, history, politics, ecology, indigenous studies, feminism and psychology and more, that might not be available in the local library. SubRosa also features a variety of events! Learn more at “Events” page of this website http://www.subrosaproject.org/p/events.html
