Santa Cruz Gives is the brainchild of Jeanne Howard former publisher of Good Times weekly. It’s a local crowdfunding site where people can support many local good deeds and projects in one spot. Guests are Karen Delaney and Leslie Lee of the Volunteer Center, one of the partners in Santa Cruz Gives. The conversation ranged from the role of nonprofits in safety net and arts programs to the huge need they fill in creating a livable community. KSQD is one of 63 nonprofits raising funds on the site which provides organizations with local matching funds proportionately to the number of donors and dollars raised.

Rachel is host of Talk of the Bay and Board Chair of KSQD. She is the producer of radio documentaries such as Southern Songbirds: The Women of Early Country and Old Time Music, The Boomtown Chronicles, and Pastures of Plenty, a History of California Farmworkers. She teaches journalism at Cabrillo College in Aptos. She is a recipient of a Peabody award for excellence in journalism.
