As the Rail-Trail moves into development of Sections 8 and 9 (a 2.2-mile bicycle and pedestrian system that extends from the Beach Street/Pacific Avenue Roundabout to the eastern side of 17th Avenue) about 400 eucalyptus trees are slated to come down. Some celebrate the removal of these non-natives, others decry the loss of habitat and are seeking to halt the project.
