Midterm Reflections and Reverberations

Talk of the Bay, with Chris Krohn,

Tuesday, November 22nd, 5-6 PM on KSQD 90.7 FM and KSQD.org

Santa Cruz City Councilmember and SJSU Lecturer, Sandy Brown

Poet, Pundit and Writer, Stephen Kessler

Who are the real winners and losers in Santa Cruz after “Election 2022?” Were the in-town and out-of-town developers and real estate interests finally able to put Santa Cruz in their land grab development chokehold, or did Justin Cummings and Felipe Hernandez hold the progressive line and checkmate all that real estate cash that was thrown down onto the luxury condo table? Is the city council once again firmly in the hands of those same build-baby-build interests that recently bequeathed us Five55 Pacific, the Nanda condos, and the awful Laurel and Pacific out of scale project of 205 units with not a single affordable unit included? And what about Measures O and N, how did they lose so badly?

This Tuesday at 5pm, “Talk of the Bay” host Chris Krohn takes a deep local dive into the November 2022 election results with Santa Cruz Sentinel columnist Steven Kessler and City Councilmember Sandy Brown. There’s a lot on the line in Surf City as we look to a future of massive development, little of it affordable, and consequent traffic and water woes on a scale we’ve not confronted before. We will break the down the election numbers and offer potential destinations where our local economy, quality of life, and our valued environmental protections are headed. Join us Tuesday on “Talk of the Bay” on KSQD 90.7 and KSQD.org.
