On Talk of the Bay, June 13, 2022 Christine Barrington interviews UCSC Distinguished Professor Emerita Bettina Aptheker to solicit her insights on the rapidly deteriorating right to choose in the United States. As one of the core actors in the Free Speech Movement and the successful effort to free Angela Davis, Professor Aptheker understands the power of coordinated citizen action in achieving unexpected outcomes in the face of great odds. With her decades of teaching experience in the Feminist Studies department at UCSC Bettina brings knowledge, depth, and wisdom to the underlying dynamics that have brought us to this political point in American history where women’s autonomy is, yet again, up for discussion in male-dominated halls of power.
