Santa Cruz reacts to George Floyd murder

This interview features Mayor, Justin Cummings, President of the local NAACP chapter, Brenda Griffin, and Shmuel Thaler, photojournalist for the Santa Cruz Sentinel. His photo of Mayor Cummings and Police Chief Andy Mills taking a knee together has traveled around the world and has been featured on many media outlets and has been shared by celebrities and political figures alike. The conversation ranged from what we can do locally to hold police accountable to how an image can be seen many different ways, depending on the viewer, but can hold power to tell a story. We also heard updates on current anti-racist actions in Santa Cruz.
